Maggie Marie Gick, 14, was the beloved fur baby of Jason and Julie Gick. She passed away on March 12, 2020. Maggie’s pet mom shared her story: Maggie’s name was “Mag” at times, and when she was in trouble, it would be “Maggie Marie”. She knew to stop what she was doing when the middle name was used. I got Maggie before I was married, but my husband quickly gained her love and gave love right back. It was impossible to not love Maggie. Everyone who met her said what an extraordinary little human-like dog she was. She was a very special girl. She loved to play hide and seek. She loved her stuffed dog. He had sad eyes, and he was her “go-to” when she had to have surgery, or if she was sick, or on long car trips. Now, Mommy holds onto him dearly along with her favorite blankie. Maggie never liked for her blankie to go in the wash, because she didn’t know when she would have it back and when things would be “normal” again. Maggie loved watching TV, barking at ALL of the animals . . . even the “bad guys” in movies! She would attack her stuffed animals that sat next to the TV because she just couldn’t get to the ones behind the screen. She loved going on vacations; we called them “big bye-byes”. She was such a good girl sitting in her car seat for up to 14 hours! Being able to be in contact with Mommy at all times was her favorite. She was my shadow. She hated puddles, rain and cold. She was my little spoon. She didn’t know what it was like to sleep somewhere other than in the bed with Mommy and Daddy. My favorite memories of her . . . there are too many to list. I have named a few, but my girl was one of a kind. She loved everyone, and just wanted to comfort them and make them laugh. She wanted them to love her back. Maggie was one silly, smart girl – playing hide and seek, watching movies together, waiting for the pizza man, cuddles when I was sick, vacations that put a bounce in her step and sparkle in her eye, even as my girl got older and more tired. I have a huge hole in my heart. I love and miss my girl every day. I was the luckiest to have been her Mommy for 14 years. I’ll never forget her. I love you, Maggie.
