Macy Mae Everitt

Our beloved Golden Retriever Macy Mae (a/k/a “Mae Mae”, “Mae”, “Mae Moo”, “Bob Barker”, “Macifer”, “Macy Pacey”) crossed over the rainbow bridge at home surrounded by her moms & Mamaw on June 14, 2023. Macy was born February 2, 2011 in Selma, IN and 6 weeks later became her mommy Jen’s first-born child. From that day, Jen was Macy’s “person”, Jen couldn’t go anywhere without Mae following behind (including the bathroom). She was lovingly known as “in the way Mae” as she would be right under your feet and you nearly tripped over her always. Macy lived her 12 ½ years believing she was a person and our family never thought of her as “just a dog”. Every birthday & holiday Macy was part of the celebration. From her birthday party & cake to Christmas presents and Halloween costumes she never missed out. She also never realized her true size as she preferred to believe she was a 10lb lap dog all her life rather than the 85lb miniature horse she truly was. She is survived by her parents: (Jen & April) and little human sister (Brynlyn) all of Pendleton. Fur siblings: her two Golden sisters Callie & Millie as well as her kitty friends Elliot, Nico, Wrigley, & Lillian (who thought Macy was her mommy). She is dearly missed by her special Mamaw; Tammy Talley who she spent many weekends with when she was a pup. She also leaves to cherish in her memory her partner in crime, her fur aunt Lucy. Macy & Lucy grew up the best of friends spending time swimming, squirrel hunting, barking & playing ball on their weekend sleepovers. Macy, Lucy, Callie, & Millie made up their own group of the “Golden Girls”. She also has many extended human & furry family members who loved her so much during her life with us including: Uncle Eric, Aunt Morgan, Avery, Bestest Buddy Bob, mom Amy, Hank, Beau, Roxy, Etta, Phoenix, Pappy Brad, Mimi, and her special German foreign exchange sister Katja. Macy loved spending her days playing with her favorite toys: her baby tweety, Hedwig, her chuck it ball (that she really just liked to chew on), and her nanashark. She also loved running in the back yard, keeping us safe by barking at random objects that no one else could see and having long conversations with the neighbor dogs (usually at 6AM). Mae loved spending her nights sleeping on the floor beside her mom Jen or on her doggy bed by the fireplace with her kitty bestie Lillian. She spent her days laying with her sister Callie protecting the front door waiting on her humans to return home from work/school. Macy was not a fan of manicures or pedicures. She also hated that awful, noisy machine that cleaned up all the beautiful golden fluff she left on everything. Her least favorite thing of all were storms, she had her special place in the bathroom that she’d hang out listening to 90’s country (with the help of Alexa) when it did anything more than rain. Also, fireworks were public enemy #1 and although all the humans in her life love July 4th, Mae despised it. Macy left us with a lifetime of good and some not so good memories (like when she decided to eat the entire entry way linoleum flooring in Jen’s first apartment. I could not have had a better, more loyal friend to love over the last 12 years and my heart is broken that she is gone. We all miss you so much sweet girl. We find comfort in knowing she was welcomed to the rainbow bridge with chuck it balls & open paws by her Golden aunt Duchess and friends Romeo & Belle.
