Rudy Evens Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rudy Evens 7/7/2012-7/12/2022 This tribute is for Rudy, our beloved border collie. We don't know exactly how old Rudy was but we rescued him when he was probably 2 years old. He had a rough life before we met him, we don't know if he was abandoned or lost. What we did know is that he showed up in a women's front yard during a thunderstorm and he had been hit by a car. He had an injury to his back leg and burn scars. This wonderful woman took him in, took him to the vet, paid for surgery on his leg and kept him until he was healed. I to this day do not know who she was but God bless her. Once Rudy was healed she turned him over to the Midwest Border Collie rescue, and that is how we found him. He had been living in a foster home with a wonderful couple in Illinois who had 3 additional border collies of their own. Rudy was never one to share and he did much better in a home without competition. He was so energetic and fun, he would run and play for hours, it was hard to tire him. We took him to Turkey Run State Park and he climbed all the cliffs and hills like a trooper, that is the only time I know we wore him out! He was such a blessing in my life, my husband traveled and Rudy was always there to meet me at the door and every day he did something so funny, he was always able to make me laugh. His favorite time of the year was the fall when the leaves were falling from the trees, he would sit outside for hours and wait until they fell and he would collect them all in a circle, they weren't allowed to move from where he put them, this was the herding in him! We took him to a dog park one day where he befriended a Bearded Collie who is also known to be a herder, watching those two interact was priceless! We will miss Rudy forever and be forever grateful for the time we were able to share with him. Run free Rudy, and herd whatever comes your way. LuAnn and Chuck Evens
